I was looking online to see what airfare prices were like. I was not able to find anything better than the deal we jumped on October. Spirit went down a little but they are still $400 more than the fare we paid. US Airways, who we went with, is now booked for those dates. My advice to anyone looking for cheap airfare is to check ticket prices on a regular basis. You’ll get a feel for when a bargain is being offered. We bought our tickets a couple of months in advance and got a great deal. We’re traveling to Costa Rica on Dec 22nd and returning Jan 4th. We paid $958 total. I can’t find anything close to that online right now. I’ll be checking up till the day we leave. Even if something great is offered the day before we leave its still too chancy, IMHO, to wait to purchase your tickets the week you leave. However if you’re the spontaneous type and have a week off with no real plan this might work for you. I’ll post ticket prices the day before we leave.
